EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP QUALIFIERS
50 nations will compete for a place in the final 16 of the European Championships with the tournament being held jointly between Switzerland and Austria in 2008. England start of as favourites at 11/2 with a major part in this being the fact that they probaly have the easiest group out of all the competing nations and that they have a great squad and really should have done better at the World Cup Finals.
Well we have already seen Northern Ireland beat Spain but on Saturday we had a result that tops that shock. World Cup runners up went to Hampden Park clear favourites but somehow come out with no points after Scotland stunned the world with a one nil victory over Henry and co. To be fair to the French they were the better team but were awful in the last third which gave the Scots a historic win. England meanwhile had a bad result with a nil nil draw at home to Macedonia but are still certs to qualify. Scotland were brought back down to earth with a bang on Wednesday night after they were beaten by Ukraine 2-0 and also had a man sent off which was a fair result. Another fair result was the defeat that England suffered in Croatia with a 2-0 deafeat and a strange own goal by Gary Neville. The goodnews is Northern Ireland and Wales got back to winning ways and Rep of Ireland got their first point of the campaign.
