We have been struugling all year to pick someone who is worthy of this great award then out steps the Irish master Darren Clarke. What a year of hell this man han endured after losing his close wife Heather to a cancer battle and now faces the prospect of bringing up two kids without their mums. Then comes the Ryder Cup and Ian Woosman has to decide if he wants to pick this man as a wild card and does decide to then he gets repayed by Darren Clarke's finest ever three days of golf taking three points out of three and this means he is now the clear favourite to take the award. There is no-one that close to him at the moment but if England have a good start to the ashes then they might come straight into contention like Freddie Flintoff.
